I'm excited for this series! If I didn't need a full size for towing / working, like if I was an office guy, I'd totally get a Maverick or Ranger. Ive always loved the mini trucks.

looking to buy a new suburban, should i get the diesel option? what is the tow rating difference for the 6.2 and diesel??? Does the Diesel have Active/De - activation Tech in it. Does the Diesel have it also. Thanks.

Ram has the Rampage in Brazil .. I think it should be sold here as well probably kill their 1/2 ton sales.. I hardly ever tow so I would dump my 1500 in a second …. Maybe a baby hurricane engine!!

Greetings Alex. The Maverick is an excellent option for light loads, preferably city trips and occasionally dirt roads; without compromising its traction capabilities. The advantages of size and maneuvering in increasingly tight parking spaces is another plus. But the advantage to consider is its PERFORMANCE (MPG). Without a doubt, its maintenance cost and valve carbonization problems due to its direct injection and exhaust gas management must be considered. In my humble opinion an EXCELLENT PURCHASE OPTION!! I would absolutely get a Maverick or something like a Hyundai Santa Cruz. I currently drive an F350 Power Stroke crew cab and would like to not have to use it for basic stuff. I want tio be able to hop in a much small daily driver and go do what I need to when not towing or hauling big stuff for the home.

A 1400-1600 lb payload is pretty much a necessity to do anything. Most SUVs have that as a standard payload target as well.

No a truck has a 8 ft bed, rwd, and a manual trans. This is a AWD car at best

These trucks really do make a lot of sense as a daily driver. I don’t know anyone with the hybrid getting less than 30 mpg. The 2.0 ecoboost got the updated block in 2020 I believe. My wife has the 2.0 in her Lincoln and it makes some impressive power for its size and compared to other engines in its class. I work in construction and you’d be surprised how many of them I see as fleet vehicles.

If I didn’t have to tow a 7000 lb trailer I’d 100% get a Maverick - it would work just fine for everything else. PS: I saw a Maverick at a campground pulling a Winnebago Micro Minnie (about 4200 lb UVW)! Yikes!

It was nuts going from a 04 f250. 5.4 2valve to a 2018 f150 5.0. Went from 9mpg to 19mpg and gained 100hp lol.

Ram is out of their mind $70,000 for basic truck. $900 a month for 96 months 😂

Know I'm late to the game commenting but all I can think is does the truck with 3.31's have some brake drag ? I watch for this on my vehicles by pulling off side of non-busy highway, coast to a stop preferably up a slight grade. Then I get out & feel each rotor & make sure they are at ambient or just slightly warm but not hot. If you still have that truck you could still try this.

If the new octane is as reliable as the diesel I’d love to have it. I think it would be fantastic, I drive mainly highway and on a farm that’s mainly flat so I feel as if it would be perfect for my suit

Good review. But if I'm looking for a truck in this class (small/mid size unibody) it would be Honda Ridgeline all the way.

Maybe you could throw in what altitude you're testing and wheel/tire sizes. just a thought.

It's a new version of the old Ranger. And here in the Maritimes......they're still EVERYWHERE!!! I've got a 2019 Ranger and I still my '07 Ranger desperately.. My next vehicle will be a Maverick. Just waiting for the 2025 rumors to be fulfilled of a Hybrid AWD extended cab.

Off topic question, I added 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T tires to my 2023 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. I have had the tires balanced twice. My question is do you prefer wheel weights, or balancing beads for tires that are larger than stock? I still do not feel that the tires on my truck are as smooth as they could be. Your thoughts? Maybe you can do a video about this topic. Thank you for any info. R/Dana

Not technically a truck and neither is the Ridgeline, but they both have a useful roll to fill and are fine enough automobiles. I refuse to accept the "it has a bed on it so it's a truck" ignorance. A jet ski is not a boat, a side by side is not a car and a Bronco is not a Jeep.

There is no way that Ram or Cummins will be able to tune a 6.7L cummins gas motor to do away with emissions components. You have to have emissions components on the vehicle to satisfy current emissions standards. If companies could get away with a tune to not have to install emissions components they wpuld have done it years ago because the manufacturering costs and R&D time on them is long and expensive. It would bring down the cost of production but because you have to have them to be EPA compliant then your getting them

If you only need a vehicle for light duty work this looks like a great alternative to a full or mid size truck. Most people who buy a full size truck but don’t use it as a work truck never come close to utilizing their “real” truck to its full capability.

I started watching your channel because you had interesting thoughts about diesel engines and more, but you make such mistakes more and more often that I have the impression that you get something to use for 1-2 days and you immediately become a specialist. First example - comparing the load capacity of a half ton with a 3/4 by placing the load in the half ton behind the rear axle. The next one was "revelations" about the regen in the petrol Tundra (luckily you deleted this video), now you compare a small unibody bed to a fullsize bed - do you really think that potential buyers don't know this? Why don't you compare it in a practical way by including, for example, 20 items per trip - you may be surprised. Why doesn't the film include the opinion of someone who might be interested in such a pickup - a friend, maybe a family member? 1.5 minutes about the engine only? Does it all still make sense or are you just counting on clicks?

It used to be cheap, and at those prices who cares what it is. I think you'd need a wife to help you get those stupid pants off at the end of a day.

Meh. My old Sport Trac has a real body-on-frame chassis, a real longitudinal RWD/AWD drivetrain, a real V-8 engine and a real Class 4 trailer hitch. The plastic bed is fine for my needs, and the IRS only makes it more car-like which is a compromise in the direction I want. Sometimes it's about actual capability, not bluffing about it.

the fact the power drives is in the back and the short lofe span of an oil belt gives zero advantages is why i chose the 6.6 duramax and tnot the 3.0. my 6.6 has everything up feont and i cant hear it so quietness is not an issue the emmissions thing is nice but the sheer cost of dropping the trans to do a routine maintenance task is a huge nogo and is dumb as hell. ita like something ford would think up

Used to have a F150 but it was getting old. So looked at a Ranger, Maverick, and Ridgeline. I went with the Ridgeline even though it was over $10K USD more than a Maverick, just seams like a better vehicle. And no turbos to worry about. And it’s built in the USA.

I think that the horsepower "arms race" along with the ever tightening emission regulations will (already do) lead all of the automakers to significant decrease in overall vehicle reliability and worsening vehicle longevity. I recall jumping into a 2010s RAM 1500 with a hemi after driving early 2000's pick up trucks and found the power and the driving experience intoxicating. But just like with buying a new TV, after a little while, you hardly notice and/or use all this extra power because most of don't need it or don't want to tear up the vehicle. I would love to see light truck manufacturers offer a detuned versions of their engines in their half ton trucks. Very few of everyday half ton truck drivers really need more than 350hp. And when it comes to RV towing, the high performance light duty trucks seem lead to many drivers "overdriving" their truck and trailer combo.

I absolutely love cummins and allison transmissions, but good god i just can stand ram, i just dont like their interiors and body, i dont want to touch that grill with a 10 foot pole, I would honestly rather cummins swap a chevy than drive a ram
